North Texas & DFW Homeowners Supplemental Coverage

Texas Wind & Hail Deductible Buyback Protect against a $15,000+ out-of-pocket wind/hail deductible.

Gap Protection
Days Not Months
2%–5% Deductible Exposure

Many Texas homeowners now face a 2% to 5% wind/hail deductible — up to $30,000 on a $600k Coverage A limit. We can add standalone supplemental wind-and-hail protection designed to pay cash after a qualifying covered storm claim, helping offset that deductible exposure.

Takes about 2 minutes — no commitment required

Reduce the Deductible Gap

Choose a supplemental limit designed to offset some or all of a large wind/hail deductible, subject to the policy limit and covered claim.

Built for Faster Storm Claims

Current Sola claims use verified weather data plus required proof of damage, and qualifying claims are often completed within days after verification.

Works Alongside Home Insurance

This is separate supplemental coverage designed to sit alongside your homeowners policy rather than replace it. Works with all carriers.

Texas hail season peaks March through June. Coverage must be in force before a storm to pay out.

The “Percentage Trap”

Many Texas homeowners are being offered or renewed with 2%, 3%, or even 5% wind/hail deductibles.

On a $600k home, that isn’t a deductible — it’s a financial disaster:

  • 2% Deductible$12,000 Cost
  • 3% Deductible$18,000 Cost
  • 5% Deductible$30,000 Cost

Your homeowners claim still applies its wind/hail deductible, and claim timing varies by carrier and loss complexity.

THE FIX

Standalone Deductible Protection

We can place a separate supplemental wind-and-hail policy designed to pay you CASH after a qualifying covered storm claim is verified.

  • Fast Claim Design: Verified weather data is central to the claim review, together with any proof of damage required by the policy.
  • Offset the Gap: Select a limit designed to cover some or all of your high wind/hail deductible, subject to policy terms and the covered loss.
  • Separate Contract: The supplemental policy does not waive or rewrite your homeowners deductible; it provides its own benefit under its own terms.

How The “Deductible Buyback” Works

1

We Analyze Your Risk

We review your address, insured value, deductible exposure, and available weather-risk information to identify an appropriate supplemental option.

2

You Lock In The Rate

If eligible, you choose the supplemental limit and annual premium quoted for your property before coverage begins.

3

A Qualifying Storm Occurs

You submit a claim under the supplemental policy. The carrier verifies the weather event and required evidence, then pays any covered benefit according to the policy terms.

Common Questions

Is this a replacement for my home insurance?

No. This is supplemental coverage. You still need your primary homeowners policy for the property, liability, and other covered losses it insures. A standalone wind-and-hail or deductible-assistance policy is designed to sit alongside that coverage and help address a high wind/hail deductible or other policy-defined storm gap.

How much does the buyback policy cost?

Pricing depends on the property location, insured value or selected limit, deductible exposure, and the carrier’s weather-risk model. The goal is to compare the annual premium with the out-of-pocket wind/hail exposure you are trying to protect. Submit the quote form for a property-specific rate.

How fast is the payout?

Standalone parametric or hybrid wind-and-hail policies can often process claims faster than traditional property claims because verified storm data is central to the claim review. Current Sola materials describe a process that includes submitting a claim, storm-data analysis, and any required evidence, with many claims completed within days to about a week after verification. Exact timing depends on the issued policy and the facts of the claim.

What if hail hits my area but not my exact house?

A payout depends on the trigger and claim requirements in the issued policy at the insured location. Weather data is an important part of verification, but some parametric-hybrid products may also require evidence that a covered event affected the insured structure. A storm in the general area by itself should not be treated as a guaranteed payout.

Does filing a buyback claim affect my home insurance rates?

For Sola’s current standalone wind-and-hail product, Sola states that its claims are not reported to CLUE and that filing a Sola claim does not raise the customer’s homeowners premium or Sola renewal price because of that claim. Other carriers and products may handle loss reporting differently, so we confirm the specific policy before you rely on that feature.

Can I cancel anytime?

The coverage is generally written on an annual policy term, but cancellation and nonrenewal rights are governed by the issued policy and applicable state rules. You can choose not to renew at the end of the term; any mid-term cancellation terms, notice requirements, or refund provisions should be confirmed in the policy.

Is this available for commercial properties?

Yes. The Agent’s Office® can also seek parametric or deductible-protection options for eligible commercial buildings and portfolios. Commercial availability, limits, triggers, waiting periods, and carrier requirements differ from the residential products shown on this page, so commercial quotes are reviewed individually.

Coverage note: “Deductible buyback” is used here as a consumer-friendly description of the financial problem this coverage is designed to solve. Depending on the carrier, the actual product may be a standalone parametric or parametric-hybrid wind-and-hail policy rather than a traditional deductible-buyback endorsement. Coverage, triggers, waiting periods, claim evidence, payout timing, and limits are governed by the issued policy.
