The Agent’s Office® Advantage

Access to markets most people don’t know exist.

There are two insurance markets in this country. One advertises during football games. The other doesn’t advertise at all — it sells only through licensed agents, and it’s where the risks that don’t fit a standard box actually get written. An independent agent gets you into both.

That’s the whole advantage. Not a discount code and not a rate you could have found yourself. You get carriers competing for the same risk instead of one carrier deciding your outcome alone.

Two Markets. Most People Only Ever See One.

When you buy insurance direct, you’re shopping the half of the market that spends money to be found. The other half doesn’t sell to the public at all. Here’s what sits on each side, and why having an agent is the only way to reach both.

The market everyone knows

Admitted Carriers

The names you’d recognize. Rate-regulated by the Texas Department of Insurance, backed by the state guaranty association, and the right home for most household and small business risk. We hold appointments across 75+ of them.

  • Homeowners, auto, and personal umbrella
  • Business owners policies and commercial packages
  • Workers’ compensation
  • Term, whole, and indexed universal life

You can reach some of these carriers yourself — one at a time, one quote at a time. What you can’t do alone is make them compete against each other on the same submission.

The market most people never see

Surplus Lines & Specialty Programs

Excess and surplus carriers, managing general agents, wholesale brokers, and program markets built for one narrow class of risk. They don’t advertise and they don’t sell direct — access runs through a licensed agent or it doesn’t happen.

  • Homes with claims history, older roofs, or wind exposure
  • Contractors with a rough loss year
  • Medical practices, surgery centers, and med spas
  • Trucking fleets and industrial outdoor storage
  • Newer ventures with no track record yet
  • Wind and hail deductible buyback

Surplus lines policies are written on different forms and aren’t backed by the state guaranty association. Those differences are real, and we walk you through them before you bind anything.

Informed clients are powerful clients. Options are leverage. One carrier’s answer is a verdict. Six carriers’ answers are a negotiation — and the difference between those two situations is whether someone put your risk in front of a market.

Four Kinds of Clients. One Standard of Work.

The same team insures the practice, the building it sits in, the truck in the lot, the house you go home to, and the policy that funds your partner’s buyout. Find where you fit.

Households & Families

North Texas rates have moved hard. We know which carriers are competitive right now and which are quietly pricing you out at renewal.

  • Homeowners, including high-value and hard-to-place
  • Auto, classic, and collector vehicles
  • Personal umbrella
  • Renters and landlord dwelling fire
  • Flood and wind/hail deductible buyback
  • Recovery after a non-renewal

Business Owners

Contractors, fleets, manufacturers, property owners. We build the submission properly, take it to markets that write your class, and explain the difference between the offers.

  • General liability, BOP, commercial package
  • Commercial property and business interruption
  • Commercial auto and trucking fleets
  • Workers’ compensation
  • Umbrella and excess layers
  • Cyber liability

Medical & Professional Practices

Physician-owned practices, dental, med spas, imaging, surgery centers, behavioral health. Practice risk doesn’t fit a standard business owners policy, and the carriers that write it don’t sell direct.

  • Professional liability and medical malpractice
  • Practice package: property, liability, equipment
  • Cyber and HIPAA-related exposure
  • Employment practices liability
  • Workers’ compensation
  • Physician own-occupation disability income

Life & Legacy

Term, permanent, and business-owned life. Underwriting is where most of the cost is decided, so we place cases with the carrier most likely to give you the rating you deserve.

  • Term life and level-term conversions
  • Whole life and indexed universal life
  • Key person coverage and buy-sell funding
  • Estate equalization and legacy planning
  • Health history, GLP-1 use, or foreign-national cases
  • Premium financing on larger cases

What Having an Agent Actually Changes

Six things, applied the same way whether the account is a personal auto policy or a multi-location practice program.

Both Markets, One Submission

Admitted carriers for standard risk, surplus lines and specialty programs for everything else. You tell the story once; we take it everywhere it can go.

A Submission Built to Get Real Offers

Commercial and practice accounts live or die on presentation. Complete applications, current loss runs, schedules of equipment and locations, and a written description of the operation — so underwriters price what you actually do instead of defaulting to their worst assumption.

Renewals Reviewed, Not Auto-Renewed

Every renewal crosses a licensed agent’s desk. When the increase is significant, we re-shop the market. When your rate holds, we’ll tell you that staying put is the better move — continuity and claims history carry real value.

Service Without a Ticket Queue

Certificates, additional insureds, waivers of subrogation, added vehicles or drivers, a new provider on the practice policy. You reach your agent’s team directly, and we turn requests the same business day whenever the carrier allows it.

Claim-Side Advocacy

We help open the claim, assemble what the adjuster needs, interpret the carrier’s coverage position in direct terms, and keep the file moving. You’re not reading your policy for the first time under pressure.

Texas Expertise, Line by Line

Percentage wind and hail deductibles. Additional-insured requirements on North Texas job sites. Texas medical liability practice. Fleet filings and TxDMV requirements. Local knowledge is what separates a quote from a placement that holds up.

How It Works

Three steps, whether you’re quoting one auto policy or a practice program with five carriers behind it.

Tell Us What You’re Protecting

A household, an operation, a practice, or the people who depend on your income. We listen first, then ask only for what the markets actually need.

We Take It to Both Markets

We build the submission and send it to every carrier that writes your class — admitted and surplus lines — then come back with the options worth your time, side by side.

You Decide, We Handle the Rest

Binding, certificates, onboarding, mid-term changes, and every renewal after that. The account stays with your agent.

Advantage FAQs

What is the real advantage of using an independent agent?

Access. A captive agent has one carrier’s rates and one carrier’s appetite, so when your risk falls outside it, the answer is no and the conversation ends. An independent agent takes the same risk to 75+ carriers across both the admitted market and the surplus lines market, then presents what came back. Options are leverage; one quote isn’t.

What are surplus lines, and why can’t I access them myself?

Surplus lines carriers write risks that admitted carriers decline. They aren’t rate-regulated the same way, they use their own policy forms, and they aren’t backed by the Texas guaranty association — in exchange, they’ll write things the standard market won’t. By law and by practice they distribute only through licensed agents and wholesale brokers, so there’s no direct-to-consumer version. We explain the trade-offs before you bind.

Do you write commercial insurance, or mainly personal lines?

Both. Commercial is a substantial share of what we place — general liability, business owners policies, commercial property, workers’ compensation, commercial auto and trucking fleets, umbrella and excess layers, and cyber, across contractors, manufacturers, transportation, property owners, and professional practices.

Do you insure medical and professional practices?

Yes. Physician-owned practices, med spas, dental and orthodontic offices, dermatology and plastic surgery, imaging centers, ambulatory surgery centers, and behavioral health providers — covering professional liability, the practice package, cyber, employment practices liability, and workers’ compensation. Start at our medical practice insurance page.

What if carriers have already declined my risk?

That’s a normal part of this work and usually the reason an account reaches us. Declinations from the admitted market are where the surplus lines and specialty programs start — coastal and wind-exposed property, homes with claims history, newer ventures, unusual operations.

Do you re-shop my policy at renewal?

We review every renewal. When your premium increases significantly, we re-shop the market on your behalf. When your rate holds steady, staying with your current carrier is often the better outcome for rate stability and claims history, and we’ll say so.

How fast can you issue a certificate of insurance?

Certificate requests, additional insureds, and waivers of subrogation go straight to your agent’s team and are turned the same business day whenever the carrier’s system allows. If a request needs underwriter approval, we tell you up front instead of leaving you waiting on a job site.

Do you handle life insurance too?

Yes — term, whole life, indexed universal life, key person coverage, and buy-sell funding. Life underwriting is where most of the cost is decided, so we place cases with the carrier most likely to offer the best rating for your specific health and financial profile, including cases involving health history, GLP-1 medications, or foreign-national status.

What areas do you serve?

Our office is at Frisco Station in Frisco, Texas, and we serve Frisco, Plano, McKinney, Allen, Prosper, Little Elm, The Colony, and the wider Dallas–Fort Worth area. We’re licensed statewide in Texas and regularly write accounts in Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and along the coast.

Coverage, availability, pricing, and individual results vary by carrier, risk, and circumstance. Nothing on this page is a guarantee of coverage or of a claim outcome. Surplus lines coverage is not protected by the Texas Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association.
